A Review Of Longines Avigation Type A-7 Men's Replica Watch

Allow us to introduce the Longines Avigation Type A-7 Replica, a new monopusher chronograph with an offset dial design meant to recall Longines' rich history in aviation replica watches. This new chronograph has been released as a modern interpretation of a design from the 1930's that carried the US Army designation of "Type A-7" suggesting it has been specifically created with Army pilots in mind.

The Type A-7 employs a 47mm stainless steel case that allows for a large and legible dial design that allowed pilots to easily and quickly check the time or chronograph. Additionally, the Type A-7 features an over sized crown and integrated monopusher chronograph control which means the 30 minute chronograph is simple to use (much like a stop replica watch) and the crown and pusher system can easily be used even when a pilot is wearing gloves.

Inside, the Type A-7 features the same L788.2 column wheel chronograph movement used within the L27764213 Monopusher Chronograph we saw in Paris earlier this year (seen below). The L788.2 is an automatic movement produced by ETA exclusively for Longines and features a 54hr power reserve while running at 28,800 vph. The movement can be viewed through a sapphire display back that is protected by a small hinged cover.

The most obvious element of the Type A-7 is the 50 degree offset dial which is more often seen on vintage replica watches or perhaps the vintage-inspired Vacheron Constantin Historiques American 1921 High Quality Replica Watches. The Type a-7 is meant to be worn on the inside of a pilot's wrist so that the replica watch will align with the orientation of an aircraft's instrumentation. This offset design meant that pilots would not need to cock their head to the side or remove their hands from the controls to directly view the time or the chronograph measure.

Take A Look At The Longines Heritage Diver 43mm Case Replica

More retro-styled Longines mens replica watches? Oh, yes. New for 2014 is this collection of Longines Heritage Diver replica watches that come in two versions, including the Heritage Diver chronograph ref. L2.796.4.52.9 and the Heritage Diver three-hand ref. L2.795.4.52.0. Each of these dive replica watches is inspired by 1970s Longines sport replica watches, and they represent some interesting design features.

The tonneau-style cases in steel are typical of dive replica watches of the era, and it is a look I've personally always enjoyed, though this is one of the few times I've seen them with a 12-sided geometric bezel. As a dive replica watch, the Longines Heritage Diver High Quality Replica Watches has an internal rotating bezel (operated by the crown at 10 o'clock). At 43mm wide, these are not going to wear massively, but are not small replica watches.

Water resistant to 300 meters, the Longines Heritage Diver is a rather capable sport replica watch. There is healthy amount of lume on the dial, as is there 1970s styling, which can sometimes mean "too much color." Nevertheless, the dial of the Heritage Diver is still very functional. Over the dial is an AR-coated sapphire crystal, and I hope that red color isn't quite as bright in person. Actually, if the red was faded or had a bit of an aged look I think it might look a bit nicer.

Inside the Longines Heritage Diver replica watches are Swiss ETA movements with Longines named. Inside the Heritage Diver three-hand is the Longines caliber L633.5 which is an ETA 2824-2 automatic, and the Heritage Diver chronograph has a Longines Caliber L651.3 which is an ETA 2892-2 automatic chronograph movement.

Between the two Longines Heritage Diver models, I prefer the chronograph as it makes better use of the dial and the overall 1970s dive replica watch theme. It is an interesting replica watch, but I still think that Longines is stuck in a retro-rewind and I'd love to see some more contemporary fare from the brand in the future. Having said that, if vintage-style replica watches are selling well, then don't expect too many changes soon.
